The aim is to prepare students on strategies for analysis, diagnosis and intervention in the urban space, from the principles of a participative city designed on a human scale.
In June 2012, the Department of Urban Planning and Management of the Territory and the Department of Architectural Graphic Ideation (ETSAM) collaborate on a workshop that pretends to think the city from the street life. With this collaboration we intend to ensure that the results have both technical feasibility as graphical quality, to be able to transmit the proposals developed.
We design a workshop of intervention in a public space which action scope is located in the historical center of Madrid. This area is characterized by being a place with historical and emerging problems of urban growth, which can be addressed from different approaches: conflicts of use, privatization of public space, environmental conditioning, revitalization and potential of disused buildings. The workshop brings together teachers and students to everyday problems existing in our cities. Therefore one of the criteria of the field selected was the existence of a citizen initiative already structured, with specific demands.
