Draw, Project: Helping to grow talent in a university context.
The Group GILDA is promoting the JIDA Conferences (Workshop on Educational Innovation in Architecture). Our Teaching Unit is delighted to participate in an initiative that promotes the exchange of concerns and experiences on innovation in the teaching of architecture. Our contribution for JIDA 2016 delves into the promotion of talent in the classroom. Our article seeks to establish the parallelism between the learning of the processes of artistic creation related to the act of architectural design and the detection of the talent needed for its development. We consider the dynamics of spatial configuration as a series of open processes based on graphical actions where the imagination is the origin and the desire of designing, meanwhile the images are defined as schemas of configuration of the imagination’s content. In this process, it is important to acquire the skills to convert that first mental image, as imaginary trigger, in an architecturally productive image.
The text explains our experience developed in the subjects of Drawing, Analysis and Ideation 1 and 2 (ETSAM, UPM) understood as the start point of the design process, highlighting the importance of graphics in the processes of architectural creation. We delve into the dynamics of teamwork among teachers and students which allow the emergence of talent in every phase of the learning process.
