Back to the map. New architectural strategies on landscape
At the XIV Congress UID, the main topic was “Territories and Frontiers of Representation”. We have contributed with a research related to the block nº 1 “Territories and Frontiers of Drawing: theories, principles and masters”. Our research harmonizes the physical and the graphic territory. In recent times, the growing complexity of architectural projects has led to the search for new graphic strategies. The use of the diagram has become a standard practice of data collection, especially for architects. Map and diagram share communication and coding strategies. However, the map always refers to a physical location.
The aim is to establish the difference between both concepts. Subsequently, we will determine the assumed unconventional character of the map within the project, in order to find new strategies of graphic communication. The different approaches will open the field of possibilities in this specific area.
